The Far Side was syndicated in more than 1,900 daily newspapers from 1980 to 1995, when Gary Larson retired. During its run, the cartoon spawned 22 books from AMP, which were translated into a total of 17 different languages. For his work with The Far Side, Larson was awarded the Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist from the National Cartoonists Society in 1991 and 1994. The group also named The Far Side Best Syndicated Panel in both 1985 and 1987.

Larson is always great. Sadly my book was falling a part.I bought it used in good shape, but what I got does not match with the description of 'good shape'
Das erste Buch der The Far Side Gallery, der Sammlung von Zeitungscartoons des unangefochteten Meisters des gezeichneten Humors. Lustig, abgründig, großartig.
Leider gibt es keine Neuauflage des Kalenders mehr. Falls jemand Herrn Larson trifft, dann sollte er auf jedenfall um diese bitten. Der Beste Kalender, den ich je hatte. Danke.
Möchte die Potentiellen Käufer darüber informieren, das dies nicht das Buch ist, welches ich mit Identischem Cover af der Arbeit mal gesehen habe. Die Comics und Fotos sind alle in Schwarz weiss bis auf 5 und der Humor des anderen Bandes ist das auch nicht unbedingt. Sagen wir Flacher nett gemeinter und gut gezeichneter Englischer Humor mit liebevollen Zeichnngen.
Für alle Sammler: Dieser Band besteht aus "Cartoons from Wildlife Preserves, Wiener Dog Art and Unnatural Selections" (Rückseitentext), ist also eine Sammlung bisheriger Bände.Dennoch: Einige Cartoons sind neu farbig dargestellt (nicht nur 5), das Cover besteht aus einer Stanze (die brille) sowie relief-artig erhabenem Text, was einen qualitativ hochwertigen Eindruck macht. Also alles in Allem trotzdem gut für die Sammlung im Regal.
This book is a hilarious collection of every Far Side cartoon that appeared in the earliest days of the strip. The human is weird, but very intelligent, and is of the kind that either you love it or you hate it. Instead of buying the smaller Far Side books buy the Far Side Gallery instead, you'll get more Far Side for less money. If you already love the Far Side you need this book.
Die Cartoons von Gary Larson, aus den USA, sind äußerst lustig, und deshalb mit Worten schlecht zu beschreiben -und Gott sei Dank sind keine Vulgaritäten dabei, von denen uns viele deutsche Zeichner nicht verschonen wollen.
Ein absolut hervorragendes Buch und sehr zu empfehlen für alle die gerne Comics lesen oder einfach nur Spass haben wollen. Mit einfachen Mitteln bringt Gary Larson in seinen, teilweise recht zynischen, Cartoons die Leser zum Lachen. Auch gut als Einstieg in die Gary Larson Comics geeignet.
